I live and play right here in Muskoka - the beautiful landscape of lakes, rocks and wilderness are unmatched in this part of Canada. Couples come from around the globe to get married right here. In recent memory, I’ve photograph couples from the US, UK, Australia and Brazil… all right here in Muskoka. There must be something to it.
The area is famous for it’s landscapes, views and cozy inns that look like they belong in your favourite classic movie.

Killbear Provincial Park | Parry Sound, Ontario
Perfect for: Adventurous outdoor types not needing anything other than incredible natural beauty
Best time to enjoy: Seasonal, Spring to Fall
If you and your partner are outdoorsy, then Killbear Provincial Park may just be the spot for you! With breathtaking views of Georgian Bay and plenty of hiking trails, this location has a lot to offer for an outdoor elopement. Just imagine saying your vows with the stunning shoreline as your backdrop.
The park is home to the famous Killbear Tree, likely the most photographed tree in Canada. This windswept Pine Tree has been on my bucket list photo list for sooo many years - I jumped at the opportunity to shoot an elopement there.
Pro Tip: Reserve campsite #319 in the Beaverdam camping area. It's located right in front of the Killbear Tree giving you prime access to the tree, beach and rocky shorelines.

Muskoka Soul - Cliff Bay | Gravenhurst, Ontario
Perfect for: Waterfront cottage with beautiful views
Best time to enjoy: Year round
Muskoka Soul is a luxury lake house on the shores of Lake Muskoka. It embodies the classic Muskoka cottage vibe surrounded by nature, making it perfect for a laid-back elopement with a small group or just the two of you. The main living space is large enough for an indoor ceremony (ie. a weather Plan B), however the large deck or dock are prime locations to say your I Dos.

The Wood House | Coldwater, Ontario
Perfect for: Beautiful log cabin for secluded romance
Best time to enjoy: Spring to Fall, although Christmas decor would be amazing
The log cabin rental has everything you need for an intimate elopement far from the hustle and bustle. The Wood House is set on top of a rocky slope, surrounded by towering trees and offers a rustic yet elegant atmosphere. It’s perfect for couples looking for a peaceful and secluded elopement.
I’ve photographed a couple of elopements here, and the log cabin is the type of place I’d love to come and spend a week at just relaxing on the shores of the Severn River.
