Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Weddings
Let's talk why you should consider the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana for your destination wedding
I made my first trip to the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana back in 2011 when my wife and I said our I Dos in the Garden Gazebo. Since then, I've returned many times to photograph destination weddings for others as well as bringing our young family back to enjoy the Majestic lifestyle. It has become our family's Caribbean home away from home.
With the unique advantage of being both a Majestic groom as well as photographer, I'm hoping my dual perspective will help with your destination wedding planning.
Planning a Majestic Wedding?
This 5-Star all-inclusive resort is right on Bavaro Beach with spectacular views of the setting Caribbean sun each night. The lush gardens, towering palm trees, white sand beaches and turquoise water are exactly what every destination wedding bride dreams of.
The Majestic Colonial Punta Cana specializes in destination weddings and their team of wedding coordinators are top notch as a result. They'll walk you through everything up front and then meet with you once you arrive to finalize all the fun details. A quick heads up though - they work as a team, so the coordinator you dealt with during planning may not be the one you have on your wedding day.
Ceremony Locations
There are 3 main location options for your ceremony:
Garden Gazebo: The Garden gazebo is surrounded by lush gardens and a water moat. It’s conveniently located out from of the main lobby or covered walkways so you and your guests can wait in the shade before the ceremony. It also provides a little shade during the ceremony.
Beach Gazebo: The Beach gazebo is where you'll walk down the aisle with your feet in the warm Caribbean sand. Imagine the view for you and your guests as you say your I Dos with the beautiful turquoise ocean in the background.
The Chapel: It's a less popular but very cute wedding chapel right next to the Majestic theatre. This is for small groups only. It’s also a great area for taking photos whether you have your ceremony here or not.

Reception Locations
The two primary wedding reception locations at the Majestic Colonial are the Wet Bar and the Parrot Bar. The main differences between the two are A) Wet Bar is larger in terms of space, the Parrot Bar - while still a decent size - is more suitable for smaller wedding groups. Read a quick comparison I did between the Wet Bar and Parrot Bar.
Other reception options include the Presidential Suite (pictured here) which is a large roof-top terrace overlooking the ocean and the Ballroom which is a large indoor, air conditioned room offering a more tradition indoor reception vibe.
Majestic Colonial Amenities:
The Majestic is only 30 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport
The resort offers both family-friendly as well as adults-only areas
The swim-up rooms are our favourite
Fun kids club with water slides
Amazing golf courses nearby
Loads of activities including water sports, theatre shows nightly, casino, nightclub, late-night snack bar etc.
Free Wi-Fi - it's not great but it's free.
Legal vs Symbolic Ceremony
My advice is to do a symbolic ceremony at the Majestic and get married in your home country before you fly to the Dominican Republic.
Why? The volume of paperwork required to be legally married in the Dominican is overwhelming. And things like translation from Spanish to English as well as wait times (often months) for licenses are a real pain.
Getting married at home (even if it's a secret/private ceremony) and then having a symbolic ceremony at the Majestic is much, much easier.
Free Wedding Package:
At the time of writing this post, when you book 15 rooms or at least 7 nights or 105 room nights, you'll get your Majestic Colonial wedding package for free!
