Beach Wedding vs Garden Gazebo Ceremony
Beach vs Garden Gazebo for your Destination Wedding
When it comes to destination wedding planning in the Caribbean the question always becomes... should I get married on the beach or in the resorts garden gazebo? Let me help you a little with your choice because there are pros and cons to each one - but seriously, you're marrying the love of your life in a tropical paradise... either option will be a super-crazy-amazing-awesome experience! (did I cover my enthusiasm there?)
Pros and Cons of a wedding on the Beach
Advantages:
When you think destination wedding, you think Beach!
The View! Beautiful blue ocean with tropical palm trees framing the location
Cool ocean breeze under the warm tropical sun
The ocean is at it's bluest-best in the early afternoon
The magic hour for light is in the late afternoon around dinner
Disadvantages:
Mother Nature. What's your risk tolerance? On the beach you're naturally exposed to possible rain and the wind can be a little much at times.
Other resort guests will likely be in the general area around the beach ceremony.
Far less shade on the beach for you and your guests.
Pros and Cons of a Wedding in a Garden Gazebo
Advantages:
Privacy (take a look at this Majestic Colonial wedding gazebo photo... see any hotel guests?)
The colours of the gardens are gorgeous
Cover from possible light rainfall, medium sized wedding groups can generally fit in a standard gazebo and the resort's covered walkways work better than wet sand after a little rain
Less wind (for those gentlemen worried about their hair)
Gazebos tend to be closer to the bar!
More shade from the sun for you and your guests
Disadvantages:
It's not the beach. This isn't always a disadvantage however when people think Caribbean wedding, they tend to think Beach.
Like most aspects of destination wedding planning, Beach vs Gazebo really comes down to your own personal preference and risk tolerance as both options are awesome! It's one of the biggest days in your lives and you're in the Caribbean, beach it up :) Here's a map of the key wedding related locations to help you get the lay of the land so to speak...
